We share the personal stories and the insights to help you get to know those businesses that make up 94% of all British business. This isn’t about cute, home made or occasional buys – this is about truly understanding how small and micro businesses impact your community, the economy and how to weave them into ever aspect of your life.
To kick off the bank holiday weekend, we share with you the amazing Gallery at 12 – a cooperative of artists and designers who are celebrating an astonishing 10 years in business. This is truly a triumph for the High Street and testament to what can be achieved with community, connection and collaboration.
Gallery at 12 started out in 2009 just after the crash and when the assumption was that all buying should be mass produced and cheap, cheap, cheap. Bucking the trend and taking a leap, a group of talented people got together to open a Gallery on the High Street of Eccleshall – a stunning, historic town in Staffordshire. Allowing their members to work and sell effectively, they have gone on to grow their membership, host amazing exhibitions and travelling exhibitions and support their members to become award winning and thrive.
To celebrate their very special Birthday, Gallery at 12 is having a ‘do’ on Saturday and you are invited to join them for bubbly and be wowed by their new exhibition. If you aren’t able to make it, head to their page on Simply Great Britain and discover how to buy from their artists on line or connect with them.
