The perfect, homemade pizza recipe – easy, delicious and fun to make too.
500g of Strong white flour (or even ’00’ if you can get it)
1 sachet of yeast (7g)
good pinch of salt
1 tsp of sugar
a good plug of Olive Oil
300ml warm water (approx)
Jar of Passata
Toppings of choice (ham, mozzarella, basil, mushrooms, peppers, goats cheese, spinach….)
This recipe is super easy and once you have mastered the dough, the world is your oyster. For quick and easy results, use a food mixer with the dough hook fitting. Add the flour, sugar to the bowl. On one side of the bowl add the salt and sugar and on the opposite side, add the yeast. In the middle add half the water and start to stir or turn not he mixer to a low setting. Once the flour and water is incorporated to a dry mixture, slowly add the rest of the water and oil until you have a soft (but not overly sticky) dough. you will need to adjust the water to get the right consistency and all flour is different.
Knead the dough for at least 10 minutes – by hand or with the hook. Add this dough to an oily bowl and cover with cling film and leave in a warmish place for about an hour until it doubles in size.
You are now ready to get bashing, stretching and rolling out. Flour your surface and cut the ball into two. I prefer to stretch more than roll but simply bash out the air and flatten to a shape of choice (roundish). Add as much passata as you like and hers, black paper and any other toppings of your choice. Pre heat your oven to the hottest temperature. Add you pizza for only about 5 minutes – you will be surprised how quickly they cook.
