Fore the love of Willow & Dad
For those of you who read our stories regularly, you will know that we make little distinction between life and work – mainly because indie business owners always have a story that will often intertwine between life, love and business. Most of our members have started their businesses because of a passion, a life story, a challenge or something momentus that changed their thinking.
Today’s story illustrates this brilliantly and reminds us all what love and passion can bring to life and work.
Eddie Glew is now known all over the world for his often unique and specialist willow weaving skills, producing baskets, structures and sculptures with his business, Blithfield Willowcrafts. He has weaved his way around gardens, homes, royal castles & celebrity places, not to mention appearances on TV and as a regular tutor at Kirtie Allsop’s Hand Made Fairs. He teaches peoples from all over the world and shares his skills on courses and workshops for all.
His love of willow and exceptional skills come from his Dad, Peter who passed on his knowledge & wisdom. Peter Glew was also a man of exceptional skills, many of which are now rare and endangered but being resurrected by Eddie.
On the 8th of July, Eddie and some friends are honouring his Dad by taking part in a 24 hours golf marathon in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of Peter. You can donate here.
Remembering his Dad and taking on a challenge while continuing to grow and establish Blithfield Willowcrafts, the business his Dad started, says everything you need to know about an exceptional artist and creator who weaves bespoke commissions and shares his skills.
This level of skill, passion and love is something you will only ever experience with independent business. When you buy a piece from Eddie or learn from him, you are bringing that dedication into your life.
